It'd be nice if Kagi Assistant had a local backup LLM, like DeepSeek R1 1.5B.
If the app detects that internet access isn't available, then it could ask the user if they want to use a local LLM like DeepSeek R1 1.5B instead. It could also be used to save mobile data.
The model could be made available for other installed Kagi apps too, e.g. Summarize, Mail and Translate.
