Every time I try to make payments by OpenNode, it complains somehow that not enough money was sent.
WHY does OpenNode not make a determination about how much money will be taken out and then just take the money out?
I have tried three times to make payments using this system, and the only end result is that I keep being told that not enough money was received, and then that I will be forced to receive a refund, but that I will be the one who has to pay the fees for the transaction that didn't go through?
I am literally only ever given one single box to specify how much money I want to send, and I specify it and hit send. And there's more than enough money in my Bitcoin wallet to make the payment. There should be no conceivable way that my actions could ever be considered for ME to have underpaid. All actions on my end were done in the completely appropriate way.
And I have literally tried to send much more money than the actual subscription I am trying to pay for, so it's not that I'm sending less than the subscription would cost. I'm trying to send like $15 more than the actual subscription I'd be paying for. This is very much NOT a problem on my end.
If Kagi's Bitcoin payment system doesn't work, at the very least, Kagi should be the one eating the fees, or Kagi should find a different Bitcoin processor, but I should not repeatedly have to pay fees when all I have done is make repeated attempts to pay Kagi using Bitcoin and each time be told that not enough money came through. I am not given the ability to determine how much money comes through. I am just given the ability to put in how much to attempt to have it send.
And on top of that, when it says that I have to request a refund, when I actually do, I get this message:
"Your original bitcoin transaction is still processing. Please try again when it confirms."
So not only is Kagi repeatedly forcing me to lose the fees for OpenNode, but it's also making me tend the website that it's not allowing me to get the refund of the literally ~$400USD that I am trying to send. For that kind of money(and yes, I am trying to pay for the family plan with one person having ultimate, so it's quite a bit of money), this user experience is extremely bad. I've never had this kind of an experience paying for any kind of service using Bitcoin before, and I understand that paying for services through Bitcoin can be an involved process, but I am having so much difficulty that I am almost about to give up on paying for your service, regardless of how impressed I was with the quality of the search results themself. This is honestly terrible.
I will make ONE more attempt to pay Kagi, knowing that it will probably take ANOTHER 24 hours for me to receive the forced refund that I will be forced to pay for and am not even being allowed to request yet, and then to actually receive the money into my Bitcoin wallet, and then to have to send again.
I was so impressed with Kagi search that I was about to start telling all of the people I knew how great it seemed, and to start recommending it, but my experience with the payment system is enough that I am very close to just giving up and never touching Kagi again.
I expected that my payment would go through and that I would receive the product I was trying to pay for, and NOT that I would receive repeated notices saying "You underpaid!"
and
"Partial payment received
Please top up underpayment
Hello,
We've received a partial payment from you. To complete payment, please send amount owed by: July 12th, 2026 10:16 am GMT+0"
and have my money tied up for literally going on 48 hours at this point. Your search service itself seems okay, but the problems I've had with the payment system have been so bad that I am very close to considering not even going through with purchasing the service.
