Create overview of real news and advancements (breakthroughs)

Many news are of the kind where the same thing has happened before in different colours. Politicians elected, leaving, businessess earning or losing money, new products that are improvements over the previous ones are introduced. With all the aggregated and summarized news in your stream, would it be possible to create an overview of really breakthrough things that have happened for the first time and are somehow distinguished for the daily fluctuations?

same for quantum computer
first time a new geopolitical phenomenon emerges
an idea appears that is completely novel

A new category of news is introduced, e.g. "game changers", where news are aggregated not only across sources, but also the temporal axis. News don't appear there driven by what the source media report, but when your algorithm detects a strong signal.

This is pretty interesting. I don't think there is a lot of 'breakthrough' news, except perhaps 'Y war finally ended', 'first commercial project using quantum …', etc.

I don't really consume news much. If there is a pristine aggregation of really novel OR significant things, maybe that is a trigger to look further.

Actually, that is how I keep track of news really. Significant things tend to show up somehow and if interested I start following a few days (or weeks, depending). Then I break off again.
