One of the most useful features of Google Maps is the possibility to share a route / directions which you have made. Kagi Maps now has a useful directions tool, which makes directions for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists. What's missing is a button to share directions as a URL. Optionally as GPX as well.

These become even more useful when the route has extra stops and such between start and finish.
Another really great feature that you might be interested in is to let users download (and share) their routes as GPX files. These are map routes you can load into any GPS navigator or smart phone apps and use without an internet connection. They're also tiny in file size. One website which implements this in a great way is cycle.travel made by a solo developer.
