A few days ago I noticed that, for Reddit URLs, the quick summary feature in search results takes a very long time and then errors out. The same happens with the Universal Summarizer and the extract API endpoint.
To reproduce, try to summarize any Reddit page with the Summarizer. Repro link
After around 2 minutes, the Summarizer returns:
"We are sorry, we were not able to process this. (403 Access Forbidden)"
I suspect this is due to Reddit cracking down on automated access, but I couldn't find any existing report of this issue, so I'm filing one in case it's not just happening to me.
I expected it to return the extraction/summary of the page, as it did until at least a couple of months ago.
For reference, other URLs (example) work fine. No VPN in use.
