When you open a new chat with the new assistant and write until the text extends below the screen, new messages or AI responses will just get added at the end where it's not visible anymore without the scrollbar moving.
When new chat messages get posted or the AI is generating a response, if the user is scrolled to the bottom of the chat, I expect the view to automatically scroll down as needed to keep the new text in view.
