The new assistant looks like a chat interface instead of a tool. I request to add a compact mode that removes the "chat look" (bubbles) and instead uses the same consistent width for all messages with left-aligned text everywhere. The padding and margin (and general whitespace inflation) should also be reduced in compact mode.
Person opinion: I treat LLMs as tools, not chat companions. I want the interfaces I work with to look accordingly. The old assistant looked much better in terms of usability and screen real estate. I'm currently working around this issue by injecting custom CSS into the new assistant interface; though it is very hard to re-design the new assistant due to lack of semantically meaningful CSS class names.
