Kagi News updates unclear and irregular

For the last week or two, the Kagi News app on Android has had nonsensical explanations of its update times, to the point that I don't actually know how current the news is any longer.

The most extreme example was this morning, when at approximately 07:30 Eastern US time, it said "Last update 22 hours ago, next update in 22 minutes". I stopped the app completely and checked in 30 minutes later, when it said "Last update 22 hours ago, next update in 23 hours 53 minutes" and the news stories had clearly not changed.

When I started using Kagi News, it appeared to have a daily or twice-a-day cadence. It really needs to return to this. Current news matters if I'm to use it as a regular news summary.

The goal is to have the news update at noon GMT. The update process takes a while, so this timing is an estimate.

I see there is an inconsistency between the mobile app and the web version, where the latter says "Next update soon"

Modifying that to be more informative on mobile is indeed a good idea; thanks for bringing up this issue!

Thanks for the explanation. 12:00 GMT is currently 08:00 EDT, and that's easy to reckon about. I did notice today, though, when the mobile app said "Last update 22 hours ago, next update in 23 hours 53 minutes", which implies a 46-hour update cycle, the local time would have been a bit after the 08:00 EDT update, and the news stories hadn't changed in the app. Indeed, stories I'd already clicked on were grayed out.

Presently, on the web version, it does say "next update soon", but it's currently 13:04 GMT, and it appears to be the same news stories as from hours before. I can imagine there might be some lead time on that 12:00 GMT update, but I did just want to call that out.
