It would be useful to have "sets" of universal custom instructions that inform all models a user might use, wherein different sets can be selected and deselected both within the Assistant settings and within the thread/query UI.
For example, I have two main universal custom instructions:
- "Always output in British English."
- "When consulting the research agent, perform maximal relevant queries and process the results of those queries at maximal depth."
I don't want the second custom instructions to apply to every query I ever submit, given the associated token burn. But I want it to apply enough and to different models enough that I would like the option of being able to use it across whatever models I use.
I therefore envision the settings interface allowing for the creation of sets of custom instructions with select/deselect boxes next to them, as below.
I also envision this ability to select/deselect being hidden in the query UI, as below.
I do, though, appreciate that this might be a niche request which could add unnecessary complexity.
