What happened?
In “Best” mode, a text of 101 words, 513 characters, translated from English to Cambodian was displayed in Thai script instead of Khmer. I did not verify the result before showing it to the waiter, and due to the current political situation, this was perceived as highly offensive by the recipient.
How did it happen?
The issue occurred when I used “Best” mode for an English to Cambodian translation. Instead of displaying the result in Khmer script, the app showed the translation in Thai script. This issue does not occur in “Fast” mode.
Steps to replicate the issue
Open the app.
Select English as the source language.
Select Cambodian as the target language.
Enter or paste a text, for example around 101 words, 513 characters.
Choose “Best” mode.
Run the translation.
Observe that the output is shown in Thai script instead of Khmer.
Repeat the same steps in “Fast” mode and note that the issue does not occur.
I expected the app to display the Cambodian translation in Khmer script. The selected mode, whether “Best” or “Fast”, should not change the script of the target language. The translation should be rendered in the correct writing system so it can be safely shown to a native recipient without causing confusion or offense.
